How long does a felony stay on your record?

My bf was arrested a few days ago and it looks like he may be a while. We havent been together that long so he may not think I want to come see him. Do I have to be on the list to visit, or is that just the first 5 days/

The first 5 days you do not have to be on the list...however you can write him
